"We may appoint a temporary candidate first, and then determine the formal candidate," Trump told reporters at the White House on Wednesday. "I think the temporary candidate will be announced in the next two or three days, and then we will appoint the formal candidate." Trump mentioned that he is considering "about" three candidates for the position, who may come from Wall Street. He added that Secretary of Commerce Ross, Treasury Secretary Mnuchin, and Vice President Pence are among the advisors involved in the process. Trump reiterated that he still views former Fed governor Kevin Warsh and National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett as the main candidates for the chair position vacancy.
