Scroll Co-founder Haichen: The launch of the Mainnet is a new beginning, and the ecosystem focuses on real-world applications.

Scroll, as an open-source Layer 2 solution led by Asian entrepreneurs, officially launched its Mainnet in October 2023 after more than two years of intensive development and a year of testing. As of October 27, the total locked value on the Scroll chain has exceeded 19.3 million USD, with over 147,000 Mainnet wallet addresses and a total of over 860,000 verified transactions.

Recently, Scroll held the ETH Hong Kong event at Cyberport in Hong Kong. During the event, Scroll co-founder Haichen Shen was interviewed and shared insights on Scroll's development and future plans.

Haichen stated that the launch of the Mainnet is an important milestone for Scroll, as well as a new starting point. The team will release more features in the future to further enhance security, reduce user costs, and provide developers with more functionalities to support more innovative application development.

When it comes to why to choose a zkRollup solution based on zkEVM, Haichen believes that zk technology can provide users with stronger security guarantees, while EVM equivalence is crucial for developer experience. Scroll is as close to EVM as possible in terms of technical implementation, and the number of supported precompiled contracts is also the highest at present.

Regarding ecological development, Haichen stated that the performance since the launch just over a week ago has met expectations. Currently, about 15 million USD has entered the Scroll chain, and some DeFi applications have started to generate transactions. More noteworthy is the rapid increase in the number of contract deployments, which indicates that more innovative applications may emerge on Scroll in the future.

In terms of ecological construction, Scroll plans to first improve infrastructure services such as RPC, indexing, cross-chain bridges, and oracles. This will be followed by a wave of DeFi application deployments. In the long run, Scroll is committed to building an open and neutral platform that treats all developers equally. In particular, the team will focus on supporting some real-world application projects, such as stablecoin payments and AA wallets.

Haichen also revealed that Scroll will launch incentive programs for developers in the future, which may use NFTs to encourage developers to deploy contracts on Scroll.

Regarding the competition and development of the Layer 2 track, Haichen believes that the entire ecosystem is still in its infancy. In the future, it is necessary to further improve the level of trustlessness, enhance security, and attract more developers to participate in innovation. He emphasized that the Layer 2 market is not a zero-sum game, but a field with enormous growth potential.

Patience is required as it's another moment of constant falls, but L2 will eventually welcome the spring [破涕为笑].
