BlackRock Now Holds $100B in Crypto As Bitcoin and Ethereum Lead Holdings
BlackRock’s portfolio holds $90.36B in Bitcoin and $15.07B in Ethereum, making up nearly all assets.
Total portfolio value rose from near zero in early 2024 to $105.43B by July 2025.
IMAGE, SPX, and COLLE tokens form less than 1% of total holdings despite notable percentage changes.
BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager, has reached a new milestone in its cryptocurrency exposure. The firm’s digital asset portfolio now exceeds $105 billion, marking one of the largest institutional positions in the sector. Data from the latest market session shows a 2.12% portfolio increase, driven mainly by gains in Bitcoin and Ethereum.
Bitcoin and Ethereum Dominate Holdings
Confirmed by a post on X by Arkham, Bitcoin remains the largest single holding, with 743,309 BTC valued at $90.36 billion. This position grew 1.63% as Bitcoin traded at $121,566. Ethereum is the second-largest holding, totaling 3.2 million ETH worth $15.07 billion, after a 5.52% price increase to $4,710.04. Together, these two assets account for nearly the entire portfolio value.
Smaller allocations include 101 million IMAGE tokens valued at $887,440 after a 370.84% surge to $0.0088. BlackRock also holds 83,220 SPX tokens worth $145,640, down 3.31% at $1.75. The firm’s COLLE holdings stand at 205.85 million, valued at $21,920 after a 16.4% drop to $0.00011.
Bitcoin accounts for over 85% of total holdings, while Ethereum represents more than 14%. Combined, IMAGE, SPX, and COLLE make up less than 1% of the portfolio’s total value. This structure reflects a focus on the largest and most liquid cryptocurrencies, with limited exposure to smaller tokens.
BlackRock's Growth Trend Over 18 Months and Current Position
BlackRocks portfolio records show steady capital growth since early 2024. From January to March, holdings rose from near zero to over $20 billion. Between April and September, values moved within the $20 billion to $25 billion range before resuming upward momentum.
Late 2024 brought a rally, pushing valuations beyond $60 billion by early 2025. Mid-2025 saw great growth, with portfolio value surpassing $80 billion. By July 2025, holdings crossed the $100 billion mark for the first time.
The latest gains came mainly from Bitcoin and Ethereum price increases, adding over $2.18 billion combined to the portfolio’s value. Bitcoin’s rise contributed more than $1.4 billion, while Ethereum’s growth added about $788 million. The IMAGE token performance provided percentage growth but minimal dollar impact due to its smaller allocation. The total holdings now stand at $105.43 billion, nearing its highest recorded valuation.
