China Mobile Migu launches its first NFT project Meelier, exploring new fields in Web3.
China Mobile Migu's first NFT project Meelier debuts
On October 1st, an eye-catching news spread on social media: China Mobile Migu launched its first NFT product. This Web3 project named Meelier will officially go on sale worldwide on October 12.
This NFT series is inspired by characters from the popular mobile game "Panda Café" and adopts an innovative development approach of "new scenes + new technology + new narrative." The series will be sold in blind boxes on a well-known NFT trading platform, with a global limit of 2,000 pieces, and will come with multiple gameplay options and user rights.
The Migu brand can be traced back to the "Wireless Music Migu Club" event held by China Mobile in 2008. In 2014, Migu Culture Technology Co., Ltd. was officially established, becoming the operational entity for China Mobile's music, video, reading, gaming, and animation digital businesses. The company consists of five subsidiaries, offering diversified digital entertainment services and has established partnerships with many well-known content providers.
The Meelier Milo NFT series is MiGu's first attempt in the Web3 field. The official introduction states that this project will integrate various rights through blockchain technology, aiming to revolutionize traditional digital entertainment models and create new digital experiences and value exchange channels. As a pioneering project in China Mobile's MiGu Metaverse ecosystem, it marks the company's determination to explore the digital realm.
Migu's move has attracted widespread attention in the industry. As a subsidiary of a state-owned enterprise, Migu participates in the forefront of the NFT market, demonstrating its open attitude towards emerging technologies and innovative spirit.
In November 2021, Migu shared its metaverse development plan at the China Mobile Global Partner Conference. Liu Xin, the general manager of Migu, stated that the company is gradually outlining the development roadmap for the metaverse based on a computing power network.
Migu's metaverse strategy includes creating immersive social interaction experiences that encompass multiple fields such as ultra-high-definition video, VR, AR, video ringtones, and smart cockpits. The company plans to continue deepening its efforts in the four major areas of "5G+MSC", "5G+video ringtones", "5G+cloud gaming", and "5G+XR", promoting the development of 5G characteristic applications.
It is worth noting that Migu chose to release its NFT series on an internationally renowned NFT platform, rather than opting for a consortium blockchain like other digital collectible projects in China. This decision reflects Migu's clear understanding of the concepts of NFT and digital collectibles, and it fills people with anticipation for its future Web3 strategy.
