According to Deep Tide TechFlow news on May 1, reported by CoinDesk, Kuwaiti authorities are cracking down on illegal crypto mining activities, with more than 60 people currently under investigation. This is part of a large-scale operation to eradicate unlicensed mining operations in the country.

The Kuwaiti Public Prosecutor's Office has confirmed that an investigation is ongoing and has warned that more suspects may be identified in the coming weeks. The operation is coordinated by senior officials, including Acting Prime Minister Sheikh Fahd Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Minister of Electricity Suhail Al-Mohaiem.

The government stated that this move aims to curb unauthorized electricity usage, which has put pressure on the national power grid and caused power outages in some areas.

The Kuwait Ministry of Electricity has started cutting off the power supply to properties related to mining, and they can only be reconnected with permission from the Ministry of Interior.

It is reported that Kuwait has implemented a policy of "absolute prohibition of all virtual asset/crypto mining activities" under the directive of its anti-money laundering committee, which is supported by regulatory authorities including the Kuwait National Bank.
