US Crypto News reports that Conor McGregor, the presidential candidate for Ireland, wants to create a strategic reserve of Bitcoin for the country, inspired by the success of El Salvador under President Nayib Bukele. McGregor believes that adopting Bitcoin will help Ireland eliminate financial corruption and ensure long-term stability.
Former UFC champion praises Bukele for making Bitcoin legal tender, reducing crime rates and corruption. McGregor believes Ireland can learn from this model to empower its people and restore national sovereignty. He has also invited Bukele to discuss this idea.
However, McGregor's use of the term "crypto" instead of "Bitcoin" has received much criticism from supporters. Meanwhile, Panama and El Salvador continue to promote Bitcoin in Latin America, calling for an alliance for financial freedom.
